Video and Podcast Resources On Alasdair MacIntyre's Works
eighteen lectures on a great virtue ethicist's conceptions of narrative, practices, virtues, and moral development
One of the great philosophers of the 20th and 21st century, who leaves behind a lasting legacy, is Alasdair MacIntyre. He died recently, and I posted a piece narrating a few memories of him as a person.
I teach a number of his works in my classes, particularly when I am teaching ethics, and I’ve produced a number of core concept videos and then Sadler’s Lectures podcast episodes on some of those works that I keep coming back to. They were originally intended to be resources for my students, but they have turned out to be useful for people of all walks of life all over the world.
Down the line, there are a number of other works by MacIntyre about which I’d like to produce additional series of lectures. I’ll add those to this page when I’ve created them. At present, I have three series of lectures in both video and podcast formats available for you. I think they will provide a decent glimpse into some of the key ideas in the complex conception of virtue ethics MacIntyre developed.
