For many years as an adjunct, I used to say I hope upon

Completion of course, you present a little more professional you write as a professional, and you demonstrate an ability to creatively think

It did not matter the subject matter, professional’s had to demonstrate those skills, which can be taught.

As someone who created and taught a critical thinking course in the Philosophy Program at a medium-sized state university in Texas for 40 years, I read your piece with interest about the false dilemma presented as a choice between a "stand alone" critical thinking class versus critical thinking across the curriculum. I agree whole-heartedly with your comments, while noting, as you do, that (1) the stand alone course does accomplish something of value for a number of students and that (2) creating and maintaining a focus on critical thinking across the curriculum is, to put it mildly, a challenge.--Frank Fair
